Pinning is part of the upgrade process in which you temporarily associate the pre-upgrade versions of MATRIXX Engine and service provider schema with RS Gateway, Gateway Proxy, SBA Gateway, Notification Server, Event Streaming Framework, and Payment Service in order for those services to remain on that version until the MATRIXX upgrade (or custom MATRIXX Data Container (MDC) customization) is complete. This is important in a multi-domain environment where there are multiple versions of MATRIXX Engine running different MDC schema versions.
