Service Contract Offers

A service contract offer defines terms and charges for a service such as voice or data, allowing the subscriber, group, or device to gain additional benefits or discounts for a long-term contract.

A service contract offer can be part of a bundle with other product offers. Only one service contract can be in a bundle, and a bundle containing a service contract can only be suspended in pause mode. A service contract, whether purchased as a separate catalog item or as part of a bundle, cannot be purchased in a pre-active state, and can only be suspended in pause mode or resumed from pause mode. A service contract offer can be owned by a subscriber, group, or device.

For more information about suspending and resuming a contract offer in pause mode, see the discussion about suspending and resuming service contract offers.

Service contract offer components specify the following:
  • Charge — Purchase and recurring charge components (purchased item cycle).
  • Discount — Applicable discounts based on the terms of the service contract.
Note: Discount pricing components can be selected from offers owned by objects in the hierarchy (device, subscription, group) and the global offers. For more information about applying the scope of a discount to a product offer, see the discussion about discount component selection.
A service contract offer begins when it is purchased and activated, and the contract offer can be configured with a set end date (expiration) where the end date is calculated based on the term of the contract and the contract offer or bundle end time is the contract end time, or the contract can be configured with no expiration date (open contract).

Debt balance configuration depends on the fields selected for early termination. when early termination is based on termination charge and late charge fields, the contract debt balance in the contract must be configured. When the early termination charge is based on an ETC schedule, the debt balance in the service contract offer or bundle must be configured. For details, see the discussion about service contract offer debt.
