Service Contract Commitment Period
A service contract commitment period is a specific period of time from the start of the service contract to a certain point within the term of the contract. There can be only one commitment period per contract.
For example, a 24-month contract can have a 12-month commitment period.
Different charges and early termination charges (ETCs) can apply within and outside the commitment period. Charges are configured in the recurring and cancel pricing components based on normalizing on the ETC range. The commitment period can be specified in the contract or overridden at purchase time through the SubMan APIs.
The commitment period is configured on the contract revision by specifying the type of commitment and the number (interval) of commitment periods in the contract. For example, if the interval period is 12 and the commitment period is monthly, it is a 12-month commitment period.
