Write-Off Policy

An offer can have a balance, a debt balance, a debt balance associated with external payment methods, or a combination of these balances.

When a debt balance is to be written off, if the current time is before the payment due date (payment is not overdue), the payment amount is not written off from the debt balance.

Debt is written-off for each balance associated with external payment requests based on the write-off policy configured on the offer.

When debt balance associated with external payment requests is written off, the payment status in the external payment request record is updated from due to written-off.

When a debt is not paid within the configured number of days, the debt is written off, an MtxWriteOffEvent is generated, and the associated external payment request is written off. When a purchased item with debt balances is canceled, an MtxWriteOffEvent is generated for each debt balance associated with external payment methods. When a purchased item with debt balances is canceled, an MtxWriteOffEvent is generated for each debt balance associated with external payment methods.

Note: A debt balance write-off generates an MtxDebtPaymentEvent, while a write-off for a debt balance associated with external payment requests generates an MtxWriteOffEvent; one write off event is generated for each debt balance. For more information about events, see the discussion about balances with external payment requests events.

For information about configuring the external payment write off and purge intervals, see the discussion about external payment offer cancelation and expiration.
