Group Credit Limits and Thresholds

Group credit limit and notification thresholds are defined for the G/L balance and meter instances located in a group wallet or group member wallet. They provide a way to set spending limits for group members and to notify associated users when a balance or meter reaches a threshold amount.

Note: Users assigned one of the predefined roles (owner, admin, or observer) have notification permission and receive notifications for any of the enabled notification types. For more information about roles and notification types, see My MATRIXX Help.

Total usage against a group balance is controlled by a credit limit set on the group balance or on a group meter that tracks the balance usage. Subscriber usage against a group balance is controlled by a credit limit set on the subscriber's virtual balance.

Group credit limits and notification thresholds are inherited from the default values set in the balance template and can be changed when the credit limit is set to unlocked. In such cases, these values can be set and changed for both the group and group members.

Thresholds set on group G/L balances and meters trigger notifications to associated users with notification permission. Groups and subscriptions owning virtual balances can evaluate their respective balances and defined thresholds, and generate notifications as necessary. Virtual meters associated with a composite meter hold only the composite value; component values are not created for the virtual meter instance.

The credit limit on a group G/L balance takes priority over the default credit limit and is enforced when the G/L balance or meter is at the credit limit, regardless of whether a subscription's virtual balance is at the credit limit. Each hierarchical tier in a group has a credit limit that is independent of all other groups in the hierarchy. The credit limit for any group in a tier should be higher than the credit limit of any one group that is lower than it in the hierarchy, but MATRIXX does not enforce this behavior.

For aggregated G/L balances at a group tier, the credit limit is the minimum of the credit limit for that balance or for the aggregated balance at the next higher tier in the hierarchy. For example, if a subscription has no credit limit, but the group aggregated balance has a credit limit of 1000, the subscription's credit limit is 1000.
