Roles

A role defines the relationship between a user and its subscriptions and groups.

My MATRIXX provides the following roles by default:
  • Owner — This role has the Owner permission assigned to it, meaning the user has all possible permissions. The Owner role is assigned when the following scenarios occur.
    • Creating a subscription in the process of creating a user. By default, the user is assigned as the Owner of the subscription, which receives notifications for that subscription. Each subscription can have only one Owner. When upgrading, existing user/subscription relationships upgrade with this role.
    • Adding a user to a group. By default, the user is assigned as the Owner of the group, which receives notifications for that group. Each group can have only one Owner.
    • Creating a subscriber. A user with the Owner role is automatically created.
  • Admin — This role has the Notifications permission assigned to it. If a user with an Admin role is assigned to a group, it is considered the administrator for that group and receives notifications for that group. Note that the group's administrator is not necessarily a group member. When upgrading, the user associated with a subscriber configured as a group admin will upgrade with this role.
  • Observer — This role has the Notifications permission assigned to it.

For these default roles, you can modify the name, description, and external ID as well as add or remove metadata. However, you cannot change their permissions or delete these roles. When upgrading, these roles are created automatically.
