Create a Status

Create a status to define the behaviors for users, groups, subscriptions, and devices that conform to your business model from the time that an object is instantiated to the time that it is no longer used.

Procedure

  1. In Status Life Cycles, click the tab for the type of status that you want to create (Device, Subscription, Group, or User).
Note: There may be a small delay before the Status Life Cycles table appears for larger domains with many objects.
  2. Click New Status (for example, New Device Status).
  3. In Create New Status, enter the following information:
    • Description — A unique description of the status (for example, Suspended).
    • Status — A unique integer.
  4. Click Create.
  5. (Optional) To enable notifications, do one of the following:
    • In Notification Profile, select a notification profile to define when expiration and recurring processing failure notifications are sent after the failure.
    • In Notification Profile Selector, select a notification profile selector when you want to dynamically create different notifications in advance of scheduled subscription and group life cycle state changes.
Note: Notifications for status life cycle state changes are only processed before and on the event.
You can either select a notification profile or a notification profile selector, not both. For more information, see the discussions about notification profiles and notification profile selectors.
  6. Add status transitions.
For more information about status transitions, see the discussion about adding status transitions.
(Optional) Define Status Policies.
  1. In the breadcrumbs at the top of Edit Status Transition Details, click the status ID to return to Edit Status.
  2. Check one or more status policies to enable that policy.
For example, to enable catalog item purchases, select Purchase. For more information, see the discussion about status policies.
  3. Click Save.
