Create a Final Unit Indication Profile
A Final Unit Indication (FUI) profile defines how to handle service access when a subscriber's balance quantity does not cover the cost.
Before you begin
Understand the Diameter Final-Unit-Action
AVP, Redirect-Server
AVP, and Restriction-Filter-Rule
AVP rules as defined
in RFC 6733 and RFC 4006.
Procedure
- In Final Unit Indication, on the FUI Profiles tab, click New FUI Profile.
-
In Create New FUI
Profile:
- In Name, enter a unique name.
- (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
- (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.
- Click Create.
- Complete the rest of the steps in Edit FUI Profile.
-
In Start Date/Time, use the date
picker to select the date on which the object becomes active in the Pricing
database and is first available for use, or enter the date in the format
YYYY-MM-DD.
Optionally, enter a time for when the object becomes active. The default start
date/time is 2000–01–01 00:00:00. If applicable, the range in which the start
date/time must fall is listed. For example:
- Select a date on or before 2021–12–01.
- Select a date on or after 2020–01–27.
- Select a date between 2000–01–02 and 2021–10–04.
Note: If you are creating a new revision of this object, the start date/time must be after the start date/time of the preceding revision and before the start date/time of the next revision. If you are making a copy of this object, the start date/time is not copied. The new object is the first revision, so it has the default start date/time of 2000–01–01 00:00:00. -
In Action, select how the service access is handled.
- None — No FUI is returned in the Diameter response message. This option is typically used with Immediate Event Charging (IEC), in which you only want to trigger a notification when a direct debit request is denied. In such cases, you must select Notification in the FUI profile definition.
- Redirect — The service element MUST redirect the user to the address specified in the Redirect-Server-Address AVP.
- Restrict Access — The access device MUST restrict the user access according to the IP packet filters defined in the Restriction-Filter-Rule AVP or according to the IP packet filters identified by the Filter-Id AVP.
- Terminate — The credit-control client must terminate the service session. This is the default handling, applicable whenever the Diameter Credit-Control client receives an unsupported Final-Unit-Action value, and it must be supported by all the Diameter Credit-Control client implementations conforming to this specification.
-
Do one of the following, based on the
Action selected.
Action Task Terminate Redirect To redirect a FUI: - In Redirect Address Type, select how the service access should be redirected.
- IPv6 address
- URL
- SIP URI
- In Redirect Address Data, enter the IP address, URL, or URI to which the service access is redirected.
- (Optional) In Denial Validity Time, enter a value in seconds. The default is 0.
- Click Save.
These values are ignored if the Action is not set to Redirect.
Restrict Access To restrict access: - Select one of the following options to restrict access:
- In Restriction Filter Rules, click New Restriction Filter Rule and enter a filter rule for the Restriction-Filter-Rule AVP and click Create. You can define multiple filter rules. Or,
- In Filter ID List, click New Filter ID and enter the filter ID for the Filter-Id AVP and click Create. You can define multiple filter Ids.
- (Optional) In Denial Validity Time, enter a value in seconds. The default is 0.
Important: My MATRIXX handles the restriction filter rules and filter ID values as strings and does not validate them, nor does it impose any formatting rules. Make certain to enter all values in the correct format. - In Redirect Address Type, select how the service access should be redirected.
-
(Optional) Click Notification to generate a notification
if this FUI profile is selected during rating.
Enter the following information:
- Code — An integer to identify the FUI notification.
- Reason — A reason for the notification.
-
(If needed) Change the general properties (the name, description, external ID,
start date, action, redirect address type, and redirect address data of the
item) and click Save.
Note: Any time you edit the value of a general property, you must click Save for your changes to take effect. The values you enter for other fields in Edit FUI Profile are automatically saved.
- (Optional) Click New Revision to create a new revision of this FUI Profile.
