Usage Quota
Usage quota components are pricing items that are used for selecting usage quota profiles based on conditions that are valid during rating. The usage quota profile defines authorization and quota management settings to be applied to online charging sessions (to authorize a request for quota for a given service and context type). The usage quota component defines the criteria for choosing a usage quota profile as a set of normalized values.
You can add usage quota components to product offers. You can add only one usage quota component for each rating quantity type. For instance, a data service product offer could have a usage component with a quantity type of total-data and a usage quota component with a quantity type of actual-duration for a VoIP data service. However, it could not have a second usage quota component with an actual-duration quantity type.
During rating, when applying a usage quota component for a given offer, the normalization results determine whether a usage quota profile or a SKIP value is selected. If every result is a SKIP, then MATRIXX Engine considers the next offer that contains applicable usage quota components, in order of offer priority, and tries to apply them. If the results for every offer is a SKIP, then MATRIXX Engine uses the quota management settings defined for the service type context type of the session to allocate quota. The settings for the service type context type are defined in the My MATRIXX service type context type interface.
