Manage Shared Workspaces

A shared workspace is a copy of an existing domain that allows multiple users to work on it simultaneously. User commits and updates are not required to see changes within a shared workspace. Use shared workspaces to allow users who have their own login to share their changes with other users who have their own login. For example, Users A and B are both working in a shared workspace. When User A does a build, that build contains the changes from both Users A and B. By default, all users have access to a shared workspace.

Before you begin

You must have the Global role of Domain Administration.

Procedure

  1. Open a web browser and enter the following URL to open My MATRIXX, where hostname is the name or IP address of the My MATRIXX pod:
    http://hostname:8082/matrixx/login.html
  2. Log into My MATRIXX.
  3. Under Administration, click Domains (not to be confused with Domains at the top of the home page in the toolbar).
  4. In Domains, click Create Shared Workspace in the row of the domain to which you want to add the workspace.
  5. Enter a name for the new shared workspace. Shared workspace names have the following restrictions:
    • The name is only made up of alphanumeric characters, dashes (-), underscores (_), and periods (.). No other special characters are allowed.
    • The name does not conflict with an existing shared workspace name in the pricing repository.
  6. Click Create.
The new shared workspace is now listed under the Shared Workspaces tab. When you click Domains in the My MATRIXX toolbar to view the list of domains, shared workspaces are listed under their parent domain and identified with "SWS."
  7. To delete a shared workspace, under the Shared Workspaces tab, click Delete the selected object in the row of the shared workspace you want to delete. If the domain cannot be deleted, then this icon is disabled. Mouse over the icon to display the reason why the icon is disabled.
The shared workspace is removed from the pricing repository.
