Managing My MATRIXX Users

Managing users in My MATRIXX includes tasks such as creating user accounts, granting access to pricing domains, assigning roles and privileges, resetting user passwords, and deleting user accounts.

Important: You must have the User Administration role to manage My MATRIXX users. User Administration users are authorized to create user accounts and control access privileges. For new My MATRIXX installations or if you are upgrading from a previous installation of My MATRIXX, you can use the default admin user for this purpose.
My MATRIXX users are defined by their type and roles.

User Types

A user's type determines which tenant(s) within a domain is accessible to that user. My MATRIXX users can be one of the following types:
  • Technical Users — Users who have access to the areas of My MATRIXX based on their roles. They are not restricted by tenant. You must have the User Administration role to manage technical users.
  • Commercial Users — Users who only have access to the commercial pricing elements available within their tenant. Commercial users come in two types: tenant managers and tenant users. To create and manage commercial users in any tenant, a user must have both the Tenant Administration and User Administration roles. Tenant managers can create and manage tenant managers and tenant users within their own tenant. A user with the Tenant Administration role can also manage the commercial pricing for any tenant if they have the appropriate roles.

Technical User Roles

A technical user's role determines the tasks that the user can perform by defining which menu items in My MATRIXX are available to them.

My MATRIXX users are system administrators and pricing administrators. Each administrator type creates different components required and used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application.
  • Pricing Administrators — Creates product pricing items and policy items required for charge and policy processing. Typically, pricing administrators have the Pricing User role and create pricing plans, which require full access to My MATRIXX functionality. Pricing administrators are sometimes also granted the Configuration User role if they are familiar with how application-configuration components impact the online charging system or My MATRIXX. To compile a pricing plan, either the Production Compilation or the Development Compilation role is required. The Manage Engine Connections role is required to configure the engine connections for price compilation loading.
  • System Administrators — Creates application configuration components that support product pricing items. System administrators also perform user administration and pricing-domain administration tasks. Typically, system administrators have the Domain Administration and Pricing Admin roles, which authorize them to export pricing domains and delete pricing-catalog items.

System administrators responsible for creating My MATRIXX user accounts can assign various Global and Domain roles so that users can perform only the tasks for which they are authorized. A pricing administrator might be assigned a role that allows them to create product pricing items for a pricing domain while a system administrator might be assigned a role that allows them to compile the pricing plan for that pricing domain. Refer to the discussions about managing My MATRIXX users for a summary of user accounts and the different Global and Domain roles that can be assigned.

The two types of commercial users have the following roles assigned to them by default and cannot be changed:

    • Production Compilation
    • Development Compilation
    • Catalog User
    • Deploy Pricing
