Charging Configuration
Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
Balance Configuration
Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
Balances
A balance is a quantity of a currency or asset that is used for tracking and charging for service usage and service-related operations, such as recurring cycle fees.
Configuring a Balance Template
After a balance template is created, in Edit Balance, configure the balance properties.
Configure Balance Template Thresholds
MATRIXX uses hard thresholds set on balances to stop subscriber activity when a credit limit is reached and soft thresholds to notify subscribers and group administrators when a usage milestone is reached. Notifications can be triggered when either occurs during subscriber usage.
Change a Threshold
A change to a threshold creates a change to the balance or meter on which it is set.

- About My MATRIXX Help
  My MATRIXX Help provides information about My MATRIXX, a web application that offers a central location for creating pricing plans and configuring MATRIXX charging and rating behaviors. My MATRIXX is intended for pricing administrators who are responsible for creating and maintaining pricing plans and for IT administrators or developers who configure the rating and charging behavior of the online charging system.

  The following information describes the My MATRIXX interface.
- Using My MATRIXX
  You use My MATRIXX to validate and compile the pricing configuration file, compile pricing, and set up and manage user roles and domains; create and manage catalog items and catalogs, manage eligibility features and rules, and manage the Normalizers interface; create and manage balances, pricing, offers and bundles, general components, and application-related components; and policies for charging and rating. Use General Configuration to create components that support pricing items and charging functionality such as announcements pricing components, attribute definitions, denial codes, products, decision tables, Final Unit Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, general ledger transaction types, notification profiles, normalizer templates, and subscriber information query actions, profiles, and generators.

  The following information describes the tasks that can be performed using the My MATRIXX Home menu.
- Catalog Configuration
  Catalog Configuration contains the Catalog Items interface that you use to create, change, or delete catalog items; the Eligibility interface to manage eligibility features and rules to determine whether a subscriber, group, or device is eligible for a catalog item; and the Normalizers interface you use to edit normalizers.

  Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
  - Balance Configuration
    Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
    - When to Use a Balance or a Balance Class
      In a pricing plan, in the balance to impact, the quantity definition in a rating formula, and the balance examined by a balance normalizer, you have the option to select a balance or a balance class that gets used during rating.
    - Aggregation Selectors
      An aggregation selector defines an aggregation grouping using matrices.
    - Balance Classes
      Balance classes specify whether a balance is an asset or currency and define how balance template properties display.
    - Balance State Update
      A balance state update component implements the business logic that decides which balance state update profile to select during rating for a given set of normalization parameters. A balance state update profile is a catalog component that defines how to modify the end time of a balance instance in a subscription or group wallet when the additional assets or currencies are purchased for that balance instance.
    - Balances
      A balance is a quantity of a currency or asset that is used for tracking and charging for service usage and service-related operations, such as recurring cycle fees.
      - Main Balances
        A main balance is an actual currency balance in a subscription or group wallet.
      - Private Balances
        A private balance restricts balance usage to a specific subscriber, group, or device on a subscription product offer.
      - Debt Balances
        A debt balance tracks the debt associated with currency charges on a product offer. Debt balance is a simple, postpaid, locked, actual currency balance with unlimited credit that tracks the debt associated with currency charges in a product offer or bundle. Both the purchase and recurring debt balance must be simple balances.
      - Impacting Balances by Consumption Priority
        Assign a consumption priority to an asset or currency balance template during pricing plan creation. Assigning a balance consumption priority to balance templates enables service providers to control which balances are charged first. The default balance consumption priority is 0.
      - Create a Balance Template
        You can create a standard or periodic balance template and designate it as being prepaid or postpaid. The balance can be for an asset or currency. When a subscriber purchases a product offer referencing the balance template, a balance instance is added to the subscriber's wallet, which can be impacted during subscriber usage.
      - Configuring a Balance Template
        After a balance template is created, in Edit Balance, configure the balance properties.
        Configure Balance Template General Properties
        General balance template properties include the balance instance creation policy, and prepaid, main balance, liability asset, and aggregate balance settings.
        Configure Balance Template Start/End Dates
        Balance start dates determine when a balance becomes available and balance end dates determine when a balance becomes unavailable.
        Configure Balance Template Periodic Balance
        A balance can be a periodic balance that represents a sequence of balance intervals that are impacted during rating.
        Configure Balance Template Thresholds
        MATRIXX uses hard thresholds set on balances to stop subscriber activity when a credit limit is reached and soft thresholds to notify subscribers and group administrators when a usage milestone is reached. Notifications can be triggered when either occurs during subscriber usage.
        Change a Threshold
        A change to a threshold creates a change to the balance or meter on which it is set.
        Delete a Threshold
        Deleting a threshold removes it from the balance or meter template containing the threshold. Subscribers purchasing the product offer containing the balance or meter after the threshold is removed will not be limited to the amount specified by a credit limit. To ensure spending control, all templates should have a credit limit.
        Configure Balance Template Filters
        The filters list displays all filters associated with the selected balance. You can optionally add any number of filters. Filters are used during rating to determine whether the balance is valid for impacting or being included in the amount for normalization. Filters are used for both usage and non-usage rating by default.
        Configure Balance Template Rollover and Notifications
        You can optionally configure balance rollovers and notifications.
        Configure Balance Template Forfeiture and Credit Floor Adjust
        You can optionally configure a balance to forfeit a balance amount and how a credit floor is adjusted when a balance is impacted.
        Configure Balance Template Tax/GST
        Use the Tax/GST tab to define how taxes are applied to balance expiration forfeiture. Specify either a list of tax classes or a tax selector. You cannot add both tax classes and a tax selector.
        Configure Balance Template Adaptive Quota Management Reservations
        Balances affected by services that use the Balance Accuracy Feedback (BAF) feature and, optionally, the Adaptive Quota Management (AQM) feature can have optional values set for how balance reservations are handled during quota authorization.
        Configure Balance Template Attributes
        The Attributes list displays all attributes associated with the selected balance. You can optionally add any number of attributes to a balance to provide additional information during SubMan queries. In addition, attributes can determine how balances are displayed in MATRIXX Backoffice Customer Tool.
        Configure Balance Template Balance Tags
        Assign one or more balance tags to a balance template. Available balance tags are based on the balance class to which the balance belongs.
        Configure Dynamic Balance Properties
        Configure dynamic balances by defining a key field list consisting of one or more key field definitions.
        Configure Balance Template Custom Fields
        Use the Custom Fields tab to configure predefined custom fields in the balance template.
      - Change a Balance Template
        You can change any property of a balance template, except the balance ID. You can only remove an attribute from the balance if it is not in use. All existing balance instances that reference the template will be updated with the changes.
      - Copy a Balance Template
        You can create a copy of a balance template.
      - Move a Balance Template
        You can move a balance template from one balance class to a different balance class that has the same unit type.
      - Delete a Balance Template
        Deleting a balance template removes it from the pricing plan.
      - Balance Template Properties
        Balances templates have properties that define how the balance instances behave after being added to a wallet. Additionally, they have properties that determine how the balance information is displayed in MATRIXX Backoffice Customer Tool. Both property types are described here.
    - Balance Tags
      Balance tags are a subset of a balance class. Pricing Admin associate balance templates with balance tags, and then refer to balances from the subset of templates that share a specified tag.
    - Dynamic Balances and Meters
      Balance and meter instances can be created dynamically in response to network usage events. A dynamic balance can be simple or periodic, and can represent a quantity of a currency or an asset. A dynamic meter can track charge amount, discount amount, or usage quantity.
    - Meters
      A meter is a non-financial counter that tracks service usage, charges to a balance, balance discounts, balance amounts, or the overdraft amount of a set of balances.
    - Rollovers
      Balance rollover occurs at the end of a period when the unused portion of a prepaid, periodic asset balance, for example, voice minutes or data, is made available for charging usage in subsequent periods. Balance rollovers are handled the same for individual product offers and offers in bundles; all available non-supplemental product offers are evaluated in order of priority until an applicable rollover component is found.
  - Pricing Configuration
    Pricing Configuration contains interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include decision tables, finance and service contracts, filters, price components including charges, discounts, grants, refunds, and forfeitures, and rate tags.
  - Offer and Bundle Configuration
    Offer and Bundle Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage pricing and rating components including bundles, offer priority generators, product offers, and product service types and attributes.
  - Normalizer Configuration
    Normalizer Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage normalizers, normalizer templates, and normalizer value lists.
  - Tax Configuration
    Tax Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage tax classes and selectors, and US taxation. You must have the Manage Tax domain user role to enable this menu.
  - General Configuration
    General Configuration has interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include announcements, product and system attributes and definitions, currency codes for rate tables, denial codes, field definitions for use in normalizers and rate tables, Diameter Final-Unit-Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, General Ledger (GL) transaction types and info generators, grace period profiles, languages, notification profiles, parameter definitions, pre/post-rating profiles and generators, SH Repository data, Subscriber Information Query components, tax classes for offer categorization, usage quota profiles and components, purge profiles, virtual fields, and usage triggers.
  - Application Configuration
    Application Configuration components are used by My MATRIXX for creating pricing plan items and are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.

  Policy configuration components are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.

Change a Threshold

A change to a threshold creates a change to the balance or meter on which it is set.

Procedure

In Balances, click the balance name.
In Edit Balance, click Thresholds, and click a threshold name.
Change any threshold property except for the threshold ID.
Click Save.
