Configure Balance Template Rollover and Notifications
You can optionally configure balance rollovers and notifications.
Before you begin
Create notification profiles in General Configuration.
About this task
Balance rollover occurs at the end of a period when the unused portion of a prepaid, periodic asset balance is made available for charging usage in subsequent periods.
Note: Allow rollover for prepaid currency balances that are not the main balance because they are
treated as assets.
Configure balance rollover and notifications in Edit
Balance when creating or changing a balance template. For information about creating and
changing balance templates, see the discussions about creating balance templates and
changing balance templates.
Note: If you enter conflicting input values when you define
your template, the associated template tabs are highlighted and an error shows
for each set of conflicting input values. The error shows until the conflicts
are resolved.
Procedure
- In Rollover and Notifications, select Rollover Allowed.
-
In Rollover Balance Consumption Sequence, select the
sequence in which the balance is consumed.
- Rollover First — The rollover balance is charged first.
- Current Period First — (Default) The balance from the current period is used completely before the rollover balance is consumed.
Note: When the rollover balances are to be charged, the rollover balance from the oldest period is used first. -
To send a notification when the instance is added to the wallet, in
Notifies on Creation, select the notification
behavior.
- None — No notification is sent.
- On Creation — A notification is sent when the instance is added to the wallet. For periodic balances and meters, the notification is triggered when the instance is created and when each individual entry in the instance is created.
-
(Optional) In Expiration Notification Profile, select
the notification profile that indicates when to send notifications for the
expiry of balances in the wallet for balances whose balance templates are
derived from this balance class.
If this option is not selected, MATRIXX Engine does not generate notifications when balances in the wallet of this balance class expire.
-
If you selected an expiration notification profile for this balance template,
select Notify on Last Balance Instance Expiration to
generate the balance expiry notification only for the last expiring balance for
the balance template. The end time of all balances that use this balance
template are considered to get the last expiring balance. Balances that are
valid forever are not considered in the calculations to get the last expiring
balance.
If deselected, MATRIXX Engine generates notifications when any balance instance that uses this balance template expires. If this balance-expiry option is enabled at both the balance class and balance template level, multiple notifications are sent for both the last expiring balance for the class and for the last expiring balance for the template. For more information about notification profiles, see the discussion about notification profiles in MATRIXX Pricing and Rating.
- (Optional) In Recurring Failure Notification Profile, select the notification profile you want to use to control when notifications are generated during or after recurring processing failure.
- (Optional) In Recurring Advance Notification Profile, select the profile you want to use to control when advance notifications are generated for upcoming recurring processing (notifications that are generated before the start of a recurring cycle period).
