Configure Balance Template Periodic Balance

A balance can be a periodic balance that represents a sequence of balance intervals that are impacted during rating.

About this task

Configure a periodic balance in Edit Balance when creating or changing a balance template. For information about creating and changing balance templates, see the discussions about creating balance templates and changing balance templates.
Note: If you enter conflicting input values when you define your template, the associated template tabs are highlighted and an error shows for each set of conflicting input values. The error shows until the conflicts are resolved.

Procedure

  1. In Periodic, select Periodic.
  2. (Required) In Every, enter the length and select the period type from the list:
    • To create an interval independent of the billing cycle, enter the length and select the period type from the list: Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, or Years. For example, to make the period span 2 weeks, type 2 and select Weeks.
    • To align the interval with the bill cycle, select Align with Bill Cycle.
    • To align the interval with the purchased item cycle, select Align to Purchased Item Cycle.
  3. (Optional) Specify the period interval start type.
In Cycle Start Type, select one of the following start types:
    • Midnight — The first interval starts at midnight. This is the default setting.
    • Absolute — The first interval starts at the time specified by the cycle time defined in the balance template. Enter the absolute start time in the format 00:00:00 (hours:minutes:seconds).
    • Purchase Time — For required G/L balances, the first interval starts at the PurchaseTime (without the date).
  4. (Required when Periodic is selected, and period type is Weeks, Months, or Years) In Cycle Offset Type, select the offset type as Purchase Time or Fixed Offset.
  5. (Required when Cycle Offset Type is set to Fixed Offset) In Cycle Offset, enter the offset value based on the period type selected in Every:
    • Weeks — Number of days into the week starting with Sunday. For example, type 3 for Tuesday.
    • Months — Number of days into the month: 1-31.
    • Years — Number of days into the year: 1-365.
Note: For more information about fixed offset, see the discussion about periodic balance properties.
  6. (Required) In Window Size, enter a value for the sliding window size. For information about sliding window behavior, see the discussion about sliding windows for periodic balances in MATRIXX Pricing and Rating.
  7. (Required) In Low Water Mark, enter a value for the low water mark.
  8. (Required) In High Water Mark, enter a value for the high water mark.
  9. (Optional) To make the periods created on demand after several periods have elapsed (non-contiguous periods), select Create on Demand.
Important: Once an on-demand balance is in use, the balance period cannot be changed.
Note: Aggregate balances (Aggregate is selected in General) cannot be created on-demand.
  10. (Optional) For on demand balances, to enable a period to be renewed when a credit limit is reached, select New Period if at Credit Limit.
  11. Click Save.
Note: If you change any values in the fields above, you must click Save.
