Add Template Fields

Use the Template Fields tab to apply a catalog item template to the pricing item, select the template fields to include in the resulting catalog item, and add default values to those fields.

Before you begin

You must have already extended the default MtxBaseTemplateAttr or MtxTemplateAttr templates with any custom fields before you can select those fields from this page. For more information about extending these MDC objects, see the discussion about extending MATRIXX Engine functionality in MATRIXX Configuration.

Procedure

  1. In Edit Bundle Revision bundle_name, click the Template Fields tab.
  2. Click the Catalog Item Template menu, and select a template to apply.
The template fields available to the bundle display. If the template has no configurable fields, only the template name displays.
  3. To add a field to the catalog item, enter a string, integer, or other value in the Value field for each field you want to include. Select Enabled to allow the field to be overridden in the Catalog Item Template Fields pane in Edit Catalog Item; only enabled template fields display when creating a catalog item. For more information about catalog item template fields, see the discussion about creating or changing a catalog item.
MATRIXX provides several default templates. MtxTemplateAttr is empty by default; MtxSampleTemplateAttr contains some useful default template fields. For a list of the default template fields, see the discussion about adding catalog item template fields in MATRIXX Pricing and Rating.
Note: Every template field you include must have a default value of the correct data type, as indicated by the Type field. Wildcard characters are not supported.
  4. Click Edit the selected object in the row of a template field to edit.
    1. In Edit Metadata, click one of these options from the drop-down menu:
      • Click None if no metadata values are required.
      • (For numerical data) Click Range and enter Min and Max values for the data range.
      • Click Enumeration, enter an individual entry in New Value, and click Add. The entry must match the template field data type. Repeat this step until all entries in the set are added. Click Delete the selected object to delete an entry row.
    2. Click Save.
  5. Click Save.
Save is disabled if a default value is missing.
