Discount Distribution

When fixed discounts exceed a usage amount-independent charge and there are other usage amount-independent charges on the same balance or on other compatible balances within the discount scope, then the discounts are distributed as follows:

  • The discount is distributed to the charges on the same balance first. If the balance has multiple charges, then the charge with highest net amount receives the discount first.
  • If the discounts exceed the charges on the same balance, then they are distributed to the charges on other compatible balances. While distributing discounts to charges on compatible balances, the discounts are distributed in the following order:
    1. Charges by the same offer.
    2. The highest net charge.
Note: One discount is applied to all applicable charges/balances and then the next discount is applied to all applicable charges/balances until all discounts are applied.

Fixed Amount Discount on Balances

You have the following offers:

  • Offer1 has the following charges and a $15 discount:
    • $6 charge on balance B1
    • $6 charge on balance B2
  • Offer2 has a $6 charge on balance B2.
The discount is applied as follows:
  1. Because the discount is on Offer1, it is applied to the balances on Offer1 first.
    1. $6 of the discount is applied to balance B1 of Offer1, bringing its charge down to 0.
    2. $6 of the discount is applied to balance B2 of Offer1, bringing its charge down to 0.
  2. The remaining $3 of the discount is applied to the next applicable balance, balance B2 of Offer2, bringing its charge down to $3.

Fixed and Percentage Discounts 1

You have the following offers:
  • Offer1 has a usage amount-independent charge of $3.
  • Offer2 has a usage amount-dependent charge of $3.
  • Offer3 has a discount of 50% off the original charge.
  • Offer4 has a discount of $2 off the remaining charge.
The discounts are applied as follows:
  1. The discount from Offer3 is applied to Offer1's charge. The charge is discounted to $1.50 (50% of $3).
  2. The discount from Offer3 is applied to Offer2's charge. The charge is discounted to $1.50 (50% of $3).
  3. The discount from Offer4 is applied to Offer1's remaining charge. However, because the discount ($2) exceeds the amount of the charge ($1.50), the remaining discount amount ($.50) is distributed to the next applicable charge, the charge on Offer2. Offer1's charge is discounted to 0.
  4. The remaining discount from Offer4 ($.50) is distributed to Offer2's remaining charge. The charge is discounted to $1 ($1.50 - $.50).

Fixed and Percentage Discounts 2

You have the following offers:
  • Offer1 has a usage amount-independent charge of $3.
  • Offer2 has a discount of $2 off the original charge.
  • Offer3 has a discount of 50% off the remaining charge.
  • Offer4 has a discount of $.50 off the remaining charge.
  • Offer5 has a discount of $.50 off the remaining charge.
Offer1 has the only application charge, so all discounts are applied to that charge. The discounts are applied as follows:
  1. The discount from Offer2 is applied to Offer1's charge. The charge is discounted to $1 ($3 - $2).
  2. The discount from Offer3 is applied to Offer1's remaining charge. The charge is discounted to $.50 ($1 - 50%).
  3. The discount from Offer4 is applied to Offer1's remaining charge. The charge is discounted to 0 ($.50 - $.50).
  4. The discount from Offer5 is eliminated because the remaining charge is 0.
