Multiple Sponsored Balances

A sponsorship profile can specify just a balance class, or a balance class and balance tag. If using both the balance class and tag, the profile can be applied to balances associated with different templates. Multiple sponsorship profiles can be applied to a single transaction if multiple balances are charged in the transaction.

Multiple Sponsored Balances

The example below, to configure a cost to be charged against a balance class, assumes the following:
  1. Sponsorship rules:
    • Rule 1:
      • Charge Type: Original
      • Sponsoring Balance: A
      • Sponsoring Percentage: 20%
    • Rule 2:
      • Charge Type: Remaining
      • Sponsoring Balance: B
      • Sponsoring Percentage: 50%
  2. Sponsorship profile, Profile 1:
    • Add Rule 1
    • Add Rule 2
  3. Sponsorship component:
    • This component includes Profile 1
    • The Application is set to purchase
  4. The sponsorship component is added to product offer 1, applied to Subscriber Balance 1
  5. The same sponsorship component is added to product offer 2, applied to Subscriber Balance 2
In this scenario, a customer buys product offer 1 and product offer 2. The charge for both offers is $10; each offer has a purchase charge of $5.
  • Subscriber Balance 1 has $6 available credit. Subscriber Balance 2 has $10 available credit. Subscriber Balance 1 is the higher priority balance, but it only has $6 so it cannot take the full charge.
  • Rule 1 is applied to the total $10 charge. Subscriber Balance 1 only has $6, but MATRIXX still calculates the sponsoring amount impact to Balance A as 20% of the full $10 charge. So, Balance A takes $2 (20% of $10).
  • Balance B takes $4 (50% of the remaining charge of $8).
  • Balance A is charged $4 ($10 - ($2 + $4)). Balance B is not required to take a charge in this example.

You can also configure multiple sponsored balances to support a purchase triggering an automatic renewal of another offer. In this example, both the purchasing and the renewal balances must have a sponsorship component with the corresponding application set to purchase and recurring.
