Refunds

Refunds are only applicable to one-time offer cancellations. The one-time offers cannot be part of a bundle and can be refunded only once. After the refund is successfully processed, the corresponding purchase data is purged.

The refunded amount is calculated using the cancel refund price component. Any forfeited amount is calculated using the cancel forfeiture pricing component. For information about US tax and tax fee refunds, see the discussion about US tax refunds in MATRIXX Pricing and Rating.

Configure a cancel refund to specify how to refund a one time purchase charge.

Note: The refund pricing component is only used to define how the purchase charge is refunded for a one time offer purchase. For any other fees associated with the refund (for example, a handling fee) for a one time offer purchase, use a charge pricing component with an application type of cancel.

Specify a one time offer refund time period using the Max Refund Period In Days field when configuring a one time product offer in My MATRIXX. If a one time offer is not part of a bundle and the offer has a cancel price component, data about the purchase is stored in the subscription, group, or device making that purchase, including the catalog item ID, product offer ID, purchased offer attributes, purchase time, purchase event ID, balance impact amounts including taxes, parameters. If the purchase was configured in My MATRIXX to be paid and processed using Pay Now, the payment resource ID is also included.

Balance expiration dates are not adjusted due to a refund. The refund is applied to the balance originally impacted during the purchase. If the balance is a periodic balance, the current period is updated. A refund is not available on an expired balance.

If the purchase charge was paid using Pay Now, the refund is also processed using Pay Now. A payment refund request is submitted using the payment record for the purchase. Optionally, you can specify not to use Pay Now to process the refund by setting the Pay Now parameter to false in the MtxRequestSubscriberCancelOffer, MtxRequestGroupCancelOffer, and MtxRequestDeviceCancelOffer. A cancel Event Detail Record (EDR) and cancel operation notification are generated upon a one time offer cancelation. When the one time offer is canceled, multiple types of transactions may occur (a cancel charge, cancel refund, cancel forfeiture), but these transactions do not have their own EDRs and notifications. A cancelation event and notification are generated for the cancelation only.
