Add a Parameter to a Price Component

Use the Edit Price Component Parameters tab to add a parameter to a price component and specify its default value.

Before you begin

You must already have configured parameter definitions for the parameters you want to add. For more information about configuring parameter definitions, see the discussion about parameters.
Note: When you assign a price component that has parameters to an offer or a bundle, MATRIXX also creates a default parameter binding between each price component parameter and a parameter with the same name in the offer or bundle. Any parameters that are not already assigned to the offer or bundle, are added to the list of offer or bundle parameters without you having to add them manually.

About this task

Perform this task to update the list of parameters assigned to a price component, and to specify default values for the parameters in the list.
Note: You can use a parameter assigned to a price component instead of a numeric value in the formula for any rate table that belongs to that price component. You can use parameters for:
  • Constants (Fixed Rate)
  • Scale coefficients (Variable Rate)
  • Unit factors (Unit Quantity)
When you assign a parameter to a rate table in the price component, the parameter is automatically assigned to the parent price component.

Procedure

  1. In Edit Price Component, click the Parameters tab.
  2. To add a parameter to the price component:
    1. Click Add Parameter.
    2. In Add Parameter, select the parameter to add.
Note: Add is greyed out until you select a parameter.
    3. In Default value, enter the default value for the parameter. The value type must match the parameter type.
    4. Click Add.
  3. (Optional) To change the default value for a parameter in the list, enter a new value in the Default Value cell for that parameter.
  4. (Optional) To delete a parameter from the list, click Delete Icon next to the parameter that you want to delete, and click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Note: You cannot delete a parameter from a price component if it is used in a rate table for that price component or if it is a default binding parameter.
