Create a Data Modify Action

Create a data modify action to define how to manipulate a field in a message, such as a MtxDiamRoMsg MDC, MtxTcapMsg MDC, a 5G message MDC, a virtual field, a callout request MDC field for a selected PreRating LDAP call out request, a field in a custom workspace for a rating event, or a field from a subscription, group, device, user, or an offer object. The data modify action is applied through a data modify profile, a prerating profile, or a postrating profile.

Procedure

  1. In Data Modify Actions, click New Data Modify Action.
  2. In Create New Data Modify Action:
    1. In Name, enter a unique name.
Note: You must specify a name that is unique across all the following types of actions:
      • Announcement details
      • Announcement menu actions
      • Call out actions
      • Data modify actions
    2. (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
    3. (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.
    4. Click Create.

What to do next

Configure the data modify action. For example, you can configure it to:
  • Set a destination field to a constant.
  • Extend a time value in a DateTime field.
  • Delete a destination field.
  • Copy a source field (from an MDC, or from a piece of metadata in a normalizer, a rate table, or a policy table), to a destination field.
