Compare Catalog Item Versions

Use the Edit Catalog Items interface to compare catalog items. You can view the differences between the current version of an object and the original object or the latest pricing repository version. This information is view-only and cannot be saved. However, you can save attribute changes, additions, and deletions in the original view or the comparison view by clicking Save. The comparison feature is supported for all tabs in this interface.

Procedure

  1. In Catalog Configuration, click Catalog Items.
Catalog Items displays a list of catalog items. Filter the list by typing in the Search field.
  2. Select the catalog item you want to compare, and click Edit the selected object in its row to launch Edit Catalog Item.
  3. Click Compare Options and select one of the following options to display:
    • Show me my changes against original object — Displays a table that lists the changes you made to the object compared to the original version of the object. A newly created or copied object that has not been committed to the repository is considered an original object. If this option is selected, edits to these objects show up as changes against an original object.
    • Show me my changes against latest repository — Displays a table that lists the changes you made to the object compared to the latest version of the object that is saved in the pricing repository. If this option is selected, changes to a newly created or copied object that has not been committed to the repository are not shown.
Note: Compare Options is available regardless of whether changes have been made to the object. Compare Options is not available when:
    • The object's status is deleted.
    • The logged-in user is a commercial user. The Version Difference column does not display for commercial users because they cannot view the differences for a commercial object created for another tenant.
The changed items are indicated using the following legend:
    • Solid green border around item — Added values.
    • Red/white dotted line through item — Deleted values. When editing in the comparison view, you cannot make changes to values listed as deleted.
    • Black dotted line box around item — Modified values. The new value is listed in the black dotted line box.
    • Color blocks — Changes to row color values.
  4. To return to the original view, select Return to normal view in the Compare Options drop-down menu.
