Meter Template Start/End Properties

Start and end properties define the meter start and end dates, how meters can be adjusted, and the default end date extension value.

Start/End Properties lists the start/end properties.

Table 1. Start/End Properties
Property Description
Start Date The start date can be:
  • None — The meter is available immediately.
  • Absolute — The meter is available on the specified date. If you do not specify a time, the meter starts at 00:00:00 AM on the specified date.
  • Relative — The meter is available on the Purchase Date or the Provisioning Date.
Note: These values have the meter start on the same date, so it does not matter which value you select.
End Date The end date can be:
  • None — The meter is available indefinitely.
  • Absolute — The meter becomes unavailable for usage on the specified date.
  • Relative — The meter becomes unavailable for usage after the specified time period, relative to the meter start time or purchase time. The time period can be any number of minutes, days, weeks, months or years after the start time or purchase time. If you do not specify a time, the meter expires at 12:59:59 PM on the specified date.
  • Purchased Item Aligned — The end time is set to the end time of the catalog item that creates the meter.
End Date Adjustment Type A meter amount can be made available for a longer period of time by extending the meter validity end date during a manual meter top-up or adjustment operation. The meter can be configured with one of the following end time adjustment settings:
  • Allow — A new validity end date can be specified during a top-up operation. If you select this option, you can optionally specify a Default Extension time, so the extended period does not have to be specified during the top-up operation. If you do not specify a Default Extension, one must be specified during the top-up operation.
  • Always Use Default — The validity end date is always extended to the amount of time specified as the Default Extension.
  • Deny — The validity end date cannot be extended.
Default Extension The default end date extension. Enter an integer for the number of units by which to extend the end date and select the unit type: minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years. For example, to extend the end date 2 weeks, enter 2 and select weeks.
Note: The validity end time of a meter instance can also be extended when a subscriber or group purchases a product offer. This end date extension is implemented by including a meter state update component in the product offer and configuring the meter state update component to select a meter state update profile. The profile specifies how to extend the meter end time.
Purge Profile Select a purge profile to specify the expired offer removal period.
