Charging Configuration
Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
Balance Configuration
Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
Meters
A meter is a non-financial counter that tracks service usage, charges to a balance, balance discounts, balance amounts, or the overdraft amount of a set of balances.
Meter Template Properties
All meters have a generic set of properties that are displayed by default in the General tab when you open a meter template in My MATRIXX. Click a tab to configure specific meter template properties.
Meter Template Aggregation Properties
Aggregation includes aggregation fields and selector decision tables.

- About My MATRIXX Help
  My MATRIXX Help provides information about My MATRIXX, a web application that offers a central location for creating pricing plans and configuring MATRIXX charging and rating behaviors. My MATRIXX is intended for pricing administrators who are responsible for creating and maintaining pricing plans and for IT administrators or developers who configure the rating and charging behavior of the online charging system.

  The following information describes the My MATRIXX interface.
- Using My MATRIXX
  You use My MATRIXX to validate and compile the pricing configuration file, compile pricing, and set up and manage user roles and domains; create and manage catalog items and catalogs, manage eligibility features and rules, and manage the Normalizers interface; create and manage balances, pricing, offers and bundles, general components, and application-related components; and policies for charging and rating. Use General Configuration to create components that support pricing items and charging functionality such as announcements pricing components, attribute definitions, denial codes, products, decision tables, Final Unit Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, general ledger transaction types, notification profiles, normalizer templates, and subscriber information query actions, profiles, and generators.

  The following information describes the tasks that can be performed using the My MATRIXX Home menu.
- Catalog Configuration
  Catalog Configuration contains the Catalog Items interface that you use to create, change, or delete catalog items; the Eligibility interface to manage eligibility features and rules to determine whether a subscriber, group, or device is eligible for a catalog item; and the Normalizers interface you use to edit normalizers.

  Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
  - Balance Configuration
    Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
    - When to Use a Balance or a Balance Class
      In a pricing plan, in the balance to impact, the quantity definition in a rating formula, and the balance examined by a balance normalizer, you have the option to select a balance or a balance class that gets used during rating.
    - Aggregation Selectors
      An aggregation selector defines an aggregation grouping using matrices.
    - Balance Classes
      Balance classes specify whether a balance is an asset or currency and define how balance template properties display.
    - Balance State Update
      A balance state update component implements the business logic that decides which balance state update profile to select during rating for a given set of normalization parameters. A balance state update profile is a catalog component that defines how to modify the end time of a balance instance in a subscription or group wallet when the additional assets or currencies are purchased for that balance instance.
    - Balances
      A balance is a quantity of a currency or asset that is used for tracking and charging for service usage and service-related operations, such as recurring cycle fees.
    - Balance Tags
      Balance tags are a subset of a balance class. Pricing Admin associate balance templates with balance tags, and then refer to balances from the subset of templates that share a specified tag.
    - Dynamic Balances and Meters
      Balance and meter instances can be created dynamically in response to network usage events. A dynamic balance can be simple or periodic, and can represent a quantity of a currency or an asset. A dynamic meter can track charge amount, discount amount, or usage quantity.
    - Meters
      A meter is a non-financial counter that tracks service usage, charges to a balance, balance discounts, balance amounts, or the overdraft amount of a set of balances.
      - Associating a Meter with a Service
        Meters can be associated with a specific service type or with all service types. When a meter is associated with a specific service type, it applies to all sub-level services that exist in the same service hierarchy.
      - Create a Meter Template
        Follow this task to create a measured charge meter or a turnstile charge meter.
      - Change a Meter Template
        You can change any property of a meter, except the meter ID. All existing meter instances in a wallet that reference the meter template will be updated with the changes.
      - Copy a Meter Template
        You can create a copy of a meter template.
      - Delete a Meter Template
        Deleting a meter template removes the meter from the pricing plan. It does not remove instances of that meter from a wallet.
      - Meter Template Properties
        All meters have a generic set of properties that are displayed by default in the General tab when you open a meter template in My MATRIXX. Click a tab to configure specific meter template properties.
        General Meter Properties
        General meter properties include a meter ID, name, and validity period, and define whether the meter tracks usage or charges, is measuring an amount or is a turnstile meter, and if it is standard or periodic, prepaid or postpaid, and aggregate. Meters can have associated thresholds, filters, and attributes, but these are considered referenced items and not properties.
        Meter Details Properties
        Meter details include the service type to track and the type of measured quantity.
        Meter Template Start/End Properties
        Start and end properties define the meter start and end dates, how meters can be adjusted, and the default end date extension value.
        Periodic Meter Properties
        Creates a meter comprised of periodic entries that are created on a recurring cyclical basis and valid only for that time period.
        Meter Template Thresholds Properties
        Thresholds properties determine the type of threshold, whether it recurs, and whether it sends a notification when a threshold is reached.
        Meter Template Filters Properties
        Filters determine whether a meter can be incremented. Filters can also be associated with notifications to determine whether a particular notification is generated. If needed, you can have multiple filter tables per filter where a SKIP result moves to the next matrix.
        Meter Template Notifications Properties
        Notifications properties determine when a notification is generated.
        Meter Template Adaptive Quota Management Reservations Properties
        _glossary/aqm.html reservation properties determine how meter reservations are handled during quota authorization for meters impacted by services that use the Balance Accuracy Feedback (BAF) feature, and optionally, the AQM feature.
        Meter Template Attributes Properties
        You can define an attribute by entering its name, data type, and value. For example, if you enter an attribute on a meter named display with a type Boolean and a value true, the meter is flagged with meta-data indicating it should be displayed in MATRIXX Backoffice Customer Tool.
        Meter Template Aggregation Properties
        Aggregation includes aggregation fields and selector decision tables.
        Dynamic Meter Properties
        Dynamic meter properties include the instance relative start and end time, key fields, and aggregation selectors.
        Meter Template Custom Fields Properties
        Use the Custom Fields tab to configure any predefined custom fields in the meter template.
    - Rollovers
      Balance rollover occurs at the end of a period when the unused portion of a prepaid, periodic asset balance, for example, voice minutes or data, is made available for charging usage in subsequent periods. Balance rollovers are handled the same for individual product offers and offers in bundles; all available non-supplemental product offers are evaluated in order of priority until an applicable rollover component is found.
  - Pricing Configuration
    Pricing Configuration contains interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include decision tables, finance and service contracts, filters, price components including charges, discounts, grants, refunds, and forfeitures, and rate tags.
  - Offer and Bundle Configuration
    Offer and Bundle Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage pricing and rating components including bundles, offer priority generators, product offers, and product service types and attributes.
  - Normalizer Configuration
    Normalizer Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage normalizers, normalizer templates, and normalizer value lists.
  - Tax Configuration
    Tax Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage tax classes and selectors, and US taxation. You must have the Manage Tax domain user role to enable this menu.
  - General Configuration
    General Configuration has interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include announcements, product and system attributes and definitions, currency codes for rate tables, denial codes, field definitions for use in normalizers and rate tables, Diameter Final-Unit-Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, General Ledger (GL) transaction types and info generators, grace period profiles, languages, notification profiles, parameter definitions, pre/post-rating profiles and generators, SH Repository data, Subscriber Information Query components, tax classes for offer categorization, usage quota profiles and components, purge profiles, virtual fields, and usage triggers.
  - Application Configuration
    Application Configuration components are used by My MATRIXX for creating pricing plan items and are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.

Meter Template Aggregation Properties

Aggregation includes aggregation fields and selector decision tables.

Aggregation Fields Properties lists the aggregation fields properties.

Property	Description
ID	An auto-generated unique ID used internally during rating to locate the meter.
Container Name	Name of container type holding the field.
Field Name	List of field name/value pairs and aggregation selector name/value pairs that define the aggregation grouping based on the selected Container Name.

Aggregation Selectors Properties lists the Aggregation Selectors properties.

Property	Description
Id	An auto-generated unique ID used internally during rating to locate the meter.
Name	A descriptive name for the aggregation selector.
Description	Information about the aggregation selector.
External ID	(Optional) Use this field to identify this item in MATRIXX pricing items. An External ID is saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing Database. Set the External ID value to any alphanumeric character that is meaningful to your implementation. An External ID can be used, for example, to relate offers in the MATRIXX system to products in an external pricing plan. It can be used, for example, by the Subscriber Management API to query and purchase product offers and bundle IDs.
