Create a Session Management Policy Component

A session management policy component implements the business logic that decides which PCC rules are returned to the PCEF for a given set of circumstances.

Before you begin

Policy profiles should be created before the Session Management component. Policy profiles are mapped in policy component policy tables.

Procedure

  1. In Session Management Policy Components, click New Session Management Policy Component.
  2. In Name, enter a unique name.
  3. (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
  4. (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.
  5. Click Create.
  6. In Start Date/Time, use the date picker to select the date on which the object becomes active in the pricing database and is first available for use. Or, enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Optionally, enter a time for when the object becomes active. If you do not set a start time, it is available when the product offer containing it is valid. Its validity period ends only when a revision to the policy component starts.
  7. In Policy Basis, select the basis for the selected policy profile as Gx Session or Rx Media Subcomponent.
  8. Click Save.
Note: If you change any values in the fields above, you must click Save again to persist your changes.
Add a Policy Table
  1. In Policy Tables, click Create New Session Management Policy Table:
    1. In Name, enter a unique name.
    2. (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
    3. (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.

What to do next

Configure the policy table general properties. For information, see the discussion about configuring session management policy table general properties. Optionally, you can add metadata and a data mofify profile to the policy table. For information, see the discussion about adding data modify details to a policy table.

After configuring the general properties and adding any data modify details, add the policy component to a product offer to make it available for purchase. For more information, see the discussions about creating subscription product offers and one-time product offers.
