Charging Configuration
Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
Balance Configuration
Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
Meters
A meter is a non-financial counter that tracks service usage, charges to a balance, balance discounts, balance amounts, or the overdraft amount of a set of balances.
Create a Meter Template
Follow this task to create a measured charge meter or a turnstile charge meter.
Configure Meter Template Aggregations
Use the Aggregations tab to add aggregation fields and aggregation selectors to define how aggregation groupings are created and generated during rating on a composite meter. Optionally, select Has Daily Component Meter on the Meter Details tab to add a daily component to measure sub periods. Daily components can be used together with components based on fields and aggregation selectors.

- About My MATRIXX Help
  My MATRIXX Help provides information about My MATRIXX, a web application that offers a central location for creating pricing plans and configuring MATRIXX charging and rating behaviors. My MATRIXX is intended for pricing administrators who are responsible for creating and maintaining pricing plans and for IT administrators or developers who configure the rating and charging behavior of the online charging system.

  The following information describes the My MATRIXX interface.
- Using My MATRIXX
  You use My MATRIXX to validate and compile the pricing configuration file, compile pricing, and set up and manage user roles and domains; create and manage catalog items and catalogs, manage eligibility features and rules, and manage the Normalizers interface; create and manage balances, pricing, offers and bundles, general components, and application-related components; and policies for charging and rating. Use General Configuration to create components that support pricing items and charging functionality such as announcements pricing components, attribute definitions, denial codes, products, decision tables, Final Unit Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, general ledger transaction types, notification profiles, normalizer templates, and subscriber information query actions, profiles, and generators.

  The following information describes the tasks that can be performed using the My MATRIXX Home menu.
- Catalog Configuration
  Catalog Configuration contains the Catalog Items interface that you use to create, change, or delete catalog items; the Eligibility interface to manage eligibility features and rules to determine whether a subscriber, group, or device is eligible for a catalog item; and the Normalizers interface you use to edit normalizers.

  Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
  - Balance Configuration
    Balance Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage price components including aggregation selectors, balances and balance classes, balance state update profiles and components, meters, and rollover profiles and components.
    - When to Use a Balance or a Balance Class
      In a pricing plan, in the balance to impact, the quantity definition in a rating formula, and the balance examined by a balance normalizer, you have the option to select a balance or a balance class that gets used during rating.
    - Aggregation Selectors
      An aggregation selector defines an aggregation grouping using matrices.
    - Balance Classes
      Balance classes specify whether a balance is an asset or currency and define how balance template properties display.
    - Balance State Update
      A balance state update component implements the business logic that decides which balance state update profile to select during rating for a given set of normalization parameters. A balance state update profile is a catalog component that defines how to modify the end time of a balance instance in a subscription or group wallet when the additional assets or currencies are purchased for that balance instance.
    - Balances
      A balance is a quantity of a currency or asset that is used for tracking and charging for service usage and service-related operations, such as recurring cycle fees.
    - Balance Tags
      Balance tags are a subset of a balance class. Pricing Admin associate balance templates with balance tags, and then refer to balances from the subset of templates that share a specified tag.
    - Dynamic Balances and Meters
      Balance and meter instances can be created dynamically in response to network usage events. A dynamic balance can be simple or periodic, and can represent a quantity of a currency or an asset. A dynamic meter can track charge amount, discount amount, or usage quantity.
    - Meters
      A meter is a non-financial counter that tracks service usage, charges to a balance, balance discounts, balance amounts, or the overdraft amount of a set of balances.
      - Associating a Meter with a Service
        Meters can be associated with a specific service type or with all service types. When a meter is associated with a specific service type, it applies to all sub-level services that exist in the same service hierarchy.
      - Create a Meter Template
        Follow this task to create a measured charge meter or a turnstile charge meter.
        Configure Meter Template General Properties
        General meter template properties include the meter instance creation policy, and prepaid, main balance, liability asset, and aggregate balance settings.
        Configure Meter Template Meter Details
        In Meter Details, configure whether a meter is usage quantity, charged amount, balance amount, or overdraft, if it is a turnstile or session meter, the balance to track, whether the meter has period close, and the charge type.
        Configure Meter Template Start/End Dates
        Meter start dates determine when a meter becomes available, and meter end dates determine when a meter becomes unavailable.
        Configure Meter Template Periodic Meter
        Meters can be periodic meters that represent a sequence of intervals that are impacted during rating.
        Configure Meter Template Thresholds
        MATRIXX uses hard thresholds set on meters to stop subscriber activity when a credit limit is reached and soft thresholds to notify subscribers and group administrators when a usage milestone is reached. Notifications can be triggered when either occur during subscriber usage.
        Configure Meter Template Filters
        The filters list displays all filters associated with the selected meter. You can optionally add any number of filters. Filters are used during rating to determine whether a balance is valid for impacting or being included in the amount for normalization or if a meter can be incremented. Filters are used for both usage and non-usage rating by default.
        Configure Meter Template Notifications
        You can optionally configure meter notifications.
        Configure Meter Template Adaptive Quota Management Reservations
        Meters affected by services that use the Balance Accuracy Feedback (BAF) feature and, optionally, the Adaptive Quota Management (AQM) feature can have optional values set for how balance reservations are handled during quota authorization.
        Configure Meter Template Attributes
        The Attributes list displays all attributes associated with the selected meter. You can optionally add any number of attributes to a meter to provide additional information during SubMan queries. In addition, attributes can determine how balances are displayed in MATRIXX Backoffice Customer Tool.
        Configure Meter Template Aggregations
        Use the Aggregations tab to add aggregation fields and aggregation selectors to define how aggregation groupings are created and generated during rating on a composite meter. Optionally, select Has Daily Component Meter on the Meter Details tab to add a daily component to measure sub periods.         Add an Aggregation Field
        Use the Aggregation Fields pane to add component values used to define a composite meter. This tab is only valid for composite meters.
        Change an Aggregation Field
        You can change any property of an aggregation field.
        Delete an Aggregation Field
        Deleting an aggregation field removes it from the composite meter.
        Add Aggregation Selectors
        Use the Aggregation Selectors pane to add aggregation selector decision tables to define a composite meter. This tab is only valid for composite meters.
        Change an Aggregation Selector
        You can change the aggregation selector.
        Delete an Aggregation Selector
        Deleting an aggregation selector removes it from the composite meter.
        Configure Dynamic Meter Properties
        Configure dynamic meter properties by defining a key field list consisting of one or more key field definitions.
        Configure Meter Template Custom Fields
        Use the Custom Fields tab to configure predefined custom fields in the meter template.
      - Change a Meter Template
        You can change any property of a meter, except the meter ID. All existing meter instances in a wallet that reference the meter template will be updated with the changes.
      - Copy a Meter Template
        You can create a copy of a meter template.
      - Delete a Meter Template
        Deleting a meter template removes the meter from the pricing plan. It does not remove instances of that meter from a wallet.
      - Meter Template Properties
        All meters have a generic set of properties that are displayed by default in the General tab when you open a meter template in My MATRIXX. Click a tab to configure specific meter template properties.
    - Rollovers
      Balance rollover occurs at the end of a period when the unused portion of a prepaid, periodic asset balance, for example, voice minutes or data, is made available for charging usage in subsequent periods. Balance rollovers are handled the same for individual product offers and offers in bundles; all available non-supplemental product offers are evaluated in order of priority until an applicable rollover component is found.
  - Pricing Configuration
    Pricing Configuration contains interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include decision tables, finance and service contracts, filters, price components including charges, discounts, grants, refunds, and forfeitures, and rate tags.
  - Offer and Bundle Configuration
    Offer and Bundle Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage pricing and rating components including bundles, offer priority generators, product offers, and product service types and attributes.
  - Normalizer Configuration
    Normalizer Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage normalizers, normalizer templates, and normalizer value lists.
  - Tax Configuration
    Tax Configuration contains interfaces you use to create and manage tax classes and selectors, and US taxation. You must have the Manage Tax domain user role to enable this menu.
  - General Configuration
    General Configuration has interfaces you use to create pricing plan components. Pricing plan components managed through this interface include announcements, product and system attributes and definitions, currency codes for rate tables, denial codes, field definitions for use in normalizers and rate tables, Diameter Final-Unit-Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, General Ledger (GL) transaction types and info generators, grace period profiles, languages, notification profiles, parameter definitions, pre/post-rating profiles and generators, SH Repository data, Subscriber Information Query components, tax classes for offer categorization, usage quota profiles and components, purge profiles, virtual fields, and usage triggers.
  - Application Configuration
    Application Configuration components are used by My MATRIXX for creating pricing plan items and are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.

  Policy configuration components are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.

Add Aggregation Selectors

Use the Aggregation Selectors pane to add aggregation selector decision tables to define a composite meter. This tab is only valid for composite meters.

About this task

This step is required to create composite meters. Composite meters track the total usage or charge amount, specify both aggregate and component views in a single meter definition.

Note: If you enter conflicting input values when you define your template, the associated template tabs are highlighted and an error shows for each set of conflicting input values. The error shows until the conflicts are resolved.

Procedure

In Aggregation Selectors, click Add Selector. You can filter the list by using the Search field.
In Add Selector, click the aggregation selector you want to add.
Click Add.
