Create a Sponsorship Rule
Sponsorship rules are part of sponsorship components. You create sponsorship rules to define the sponsoring balance and percentage to use in splitting charges. Sponsorship rules can be used in multiple sponsorship profiles.
Procedure
- In Sponsorship, select the Rules tab.
- Click New Sponsorship Rule.

In Create New Sponsorship Rule:
- In Name, enter a unique name.
- (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
- (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.
- Click Create.

In Edit Sponsorship Rule:
- In Charge Type, select from the following:
- Original — This is the default; it bases the percentage off the original charge.
- Remaining — This takes the percentage off whatever charge is remaining.

In Sponsoring Balance, click Select
Balance.
- In Balance Class, select the balance class.
- In Balance, select the balance template.
- Click Select.

In Sponsoring Percentage, set the following:
- Percentage — Enter the percentage of the quantity that can be sponsored by the sponsoring balance.
- (Optional) Override Container — Select the container used for overriding the defined percentage. The percentage can be overridden at purchase time using a catalog item template field.
- (Optional) Override Field — Select the field used for overriding the defined percentage. This menu populates once the override container is selected.
- Click Save.
