Add a Field to a Pricing Plan

You can add an MATRIXX Data Container (MDC) field to your pricing plan and use it in rate tables as a quantity type on which to base rating or to define the tiers used for closed user group normalizers.

Before you begin

To add a field that is not located in a system MDC, create a custom MDC to extend the system MDC and add the new field to it. For information about extending MDCs, see MATRIXX Configuration.

Procedure

  1. In Field Definitions, click New Field Definition.
  2. In Create New Field Definition, enter a name for the field. Make the name descriptive so it identifies the MDC containing the field. This is important for pricing administrators to know during pricing plan creation.
  3. Click Create.
  4. In Edit Field Definition:
    1. In Name, enter a unique name.
    2. In Container, click the name of the MDC that will contain the field.
    3. In Field Name, click the name of the MDC field to use.
    4. If the Container is MtxGroupObject or derived from MtxGroupObject, in Tier, enter the group tier name. If the tier does not exist, it is created when you click save.
    5. Click Save.

Results

The next time My MATRIXX starts, the field will be available for closed user group normalizers and rate tables. If My MATRIXX is already running, click Refresh the current view in the Navigation pane to make the field available for use.
