Policy Configuration
Policy configuration components are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.
Session Management Policy Configuration
The Gx session management policy reference point is located between a Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) and the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) internal to MATRIXX.
Session Management Policy Profiles
The Gx Session Management profiles contain the criteria that determine the Policy and Charging Control (PCC) Rule returned to one or more Policy and Charging Enforcement Functions (PCEFs) in response to a Credit-Control Response (CCR) or when there is a subscriber status change.
Create a Session Management Policy Profile
Session management profiles define the PCC rules, event triggers, QoS profiles, default EPS bearer QoS, and supported features sent to the PCEF as the result of a policy change.
Configure General Properties
The General tab appears by default when you open a session management policy profile revision. Use this tab to configure session management policy profile general properties.

- About My MATRIXX Help
  My MATRIXX Help provides information about My MATRIXX, a web application that offers a central location for creating pricing plans and configuring MATRIXX charging and rating behaviors. My MATRIXX is intended for pricing administrators who are responsible for creating and maintaining pricing plans and for IT administrators or developers who configure the rating and charging behavior of the online charging system.

  The following information describes the My MATRIXX interface.
- Using My MATRIXX
  You use My MATRIXX to validate and compile the pricing configuration file, compile pricing, and set up and manage user roles and domains; create and manage catalog items and catalogs, manage eligibility features and rules, and manage the Normalizers interface; create and manage balances, pricing, offers and bundles, general components, and application-related components; and policies for charging and rating. Use General Configuration to create components that support pricing items and charging functionality such as announcements pricing components, attribute definitions, denial codes, products, decision tables, Final Unit Indication (FUI) profiles and generators, general ledger transaction types, notification profiles, normalizer templates, and subscriber information query actions, profiles, and generators.

  The following information describes the tasks that can be performed using the My MATRIXX Home menu.
- Catalog Configuration
  Catalog Configuration contains the Catalog Items interface that you use to create, change, or delete catalog items; the Eligibility interface to manage eligibility features and rules to determine whether a subscriber, group, or device is eligible for a catalog item; and the Normalizers interface you use to edit normalizers.
- Charging Configuration
  Charging Configuration has the interfaces you use to create and manage balance, pricing, product offer and bundle, general, and application-related components.
- Policy Configuration
  Policy configuration components are used by MATRIXX Charging Application and MATRIXX Policy Application for charging and rating.
  - Policy Overview
    You must have the Pricing User domain role to access this menu and all its components. For more information, see the discussion about technical user roles.
  - Policy Session Mappings
    In MATRIXX 3G, 4G, and 5G environments using MATRIXX Policy Application, each policy session includes an Attr field of type MtxPolicySessionExtension that includes any custom policy session fields. You can map fields in the incoming network message to these Attr fields, or to any custom MATRIXX Data Container (MDC) fields that extend it, to save the field value throughout Gx, N40, Sy, and N28 policy sessions. This allows you to set up rating based on that value.
  - Policy Components
    The 5G MATRIXX policy components include spending limit configuration components. The 3G/4G MATRIXX policy components include spending limit configuration components, session management policy components, policy session mappings, event trigger groups, and event triggers.
  - Event Trigger Groups
    Diameter Gx event triggers define when the PCEF is notified of changing network conditions. An event trigger group is a collection of event triggers that are assigned to a policy profile.
  - Event Triggers
    Gx event triggers tell the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) which network events must send a new Credit-Control Response (CCR) to the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) for a possible policy change. Each event trigger has a string value name and an associated non-negative integer value.
  - Spending Limit Configuration
    Configure the spending limit control components when using a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) or Policy Control Function (PCF) that is external to MATRIXX Engine. For 5G MATRIXX environments, the spending limit control configuration reference point (N28) is located between your external PCF and MATRIXX Engine as a Charging Function (CHF). For 3G/4G environments, the spending limit control configuration reference point (Diameter Sy) is located between an external PCRF and MATRIXX Engine as an OCS.
  - Session Management Policy Configuration
    The Gx session management policy reference point is located between a Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) and the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) internal to MATRIXX.
    - Session Management Policy Components
      A session management policy component implements the business logic that decides which PCC rules are returned to the PCEF for a given set of circumstances.
    - Session Management Policy Profiles
      The Gx Session Management profiles contain the criteria that determine the Policy and Charging Control (PCC) Rule returned to one or more Policy and Charging Enforcement Functions (PCEFs) in response to a Credit-Control Response (CCR) or when there is a subscriber status change.
      - Create a Session Management Policy Profile
        Session management profiles define the PCC rules, event triggers, QoS profiles, default EPS bearer QoS, and supported features sent to the PCEF as the result of a policy change.
        Configure General Properties
        The General tab appears by default when you open a session management policy profile revision. Use this tab to configure session management policy profile general properties.
        Add PCC Rules
        Use the PCC Rules tab to add PCC rules to the session management policy profile. When the session management policy profile is applied, an instance of each PCC rule is added to the session management policy profile.
        Select Event Triggers
        Use the Event Triggers tab to add event triggers to a session management policy profile. When the session management policy profile is applied, an instance of event trigger is added to the session management policy profile.
        Select a QoS Profile
        Use the QoS Profiles tab to add specific speed profile components to a session management policy profile. When the session management policy profile is applied, the QoS speed profiles are used.
        Select a Default EPS Bearer QoS
        Use the Default EPS Bearer QoS tab to add specific EPS bearer speed profile components to a session management policy profile. When the session management policy profile is applied, the default EPS bearer QoS is added to the session management policy profile.
        Configure Supported Features
        Use the Supported Feature List tab to identify a specific feature list from the Vendor-Id, Feature-List-ID, and Feature-List AVPs.
      - Change a Session Management Policy Profile
        Changes to a session management policy profile affect all session management components to which it is assigned.
      - Create a Revision to a Session Management Policy Profile
        A new revision of a session management policy profile creates a new copy of a selected revision or version. The operation does not create a new pricing file in the pricing plan.
      - Delete a Session Management Policy Profile
        Deleting a session management policy profile removes it from the pricing plan.
      - Session Management Profile Policy Properties
        Use the Edit Session Management Policy Profile, interface to change the session management policy profile properties.
      - Session Management Supported Feature List Properties
        Use the Supported Feature List tab of the Edit Session Management Policy Profile interface to change the session management policy profile supported feature list properties.
    - PCC Rules
      PCC (Policy and Charging Control) Rules define the treatment to apply to subscriber traffic based on the application used by the subscriber, or on information about the data flow. You configure PCC rules that are activated either dynamically or by the _glossary/pcrf.html.
    - QoS Profiles
      QoS profiles define the quality of service provided by a specific policy profile. Multiple QoS profiles can be assigned to a policy profile.

Configure General Properties

The General tab appears by default when you open a session management policy profile revision. Use this tab to configure session management policy profile general properties.

Procedure

In Edit Session Management Policy Profile:
1. In Name, enter a unique name for the session management policy profile.
2. (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about its purpose.
3. (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric string less than 64 characters long to use as a unique ID for the session management policy profile object. You can use the external ID for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation. The session management policy API can use the external ID to purchase, cancel, and query session management policy profiles.
4. (Optional) In Start Date/Time, use the date picker to select the date on which the object becomes active in the pricing database and is first available for use. Or, enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Optionally, enter a time for when the object becomes active. If you do not set a start time, it is available when the session management policy component containing it is valid. Its validity period ends only when a revision to the policy component starts.
5. In Bearer Control Mode, enter your preferred bearer control mode. The options are:
  - 0 — UE_ONLY. Only the UE can request any additional bearer establishment.
  - 1 — NW_ONLY. Only the PCEF can request any additional bearer establishment.
  - 2 — UE_NW. Either the UE or the PCEF can request any additional bearer establishment, and add their own traffic mapping information to an IP-CAN bearer.
Click Save.
