SMS Charging Message Sequences

MATRIXX Call Control Framework (CCF) provides support for SMS charging message sequences.

CCF supports the following CAMEL Application Part 3 (CAP3) methods for SMS charging:
  • Immediate Event Charging (IEC).
  • Event Charging with Unit Reservation (ECUR).
You configure which SMS charging method to use on a per SMS service basis. When MATRIXX Engine receives a valid InitialDPSMS, if the SMS charging method is:
  • Immediate Event Charging, then MATRIXX Engine attempts to charge for the SMS as a one off event without establishing a charging session.
  • Event Charging with Unit Reservation, then MATRIXX Engine reserves the cost of the SMS message and then commits it later only if the SMS is successfully submitted.
