ActivityTest Message Sequences

MATRIXX Call Control Framework (CCF) provides support for ActivityTest message sequences. MATRIXX Engine periodically sends ActivityTest operations for non-chargeable voice calls that are being monitored (through CallInformationRequest operations) to find out whether calls are still active.

MATRIXX Engine sends ActivityTest operations to the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) every 30 minutes by default. MATRIXX Engine uses the same TCAP dialog for ActivityTest operations to ensure that the call context can be cleaned up if the TCAP session is orphaned. If a TCAP ABORT is received or the MSC does not return an ActivityTest response before the ActivityTest response timer expires, a MEF is generated.

If the MSC returns:
  • An ActivityTest response, then MATRIXX Engine restarts the ActivityTest timer.
  • A TCAP ABORT, then MATRIXX Engine releases the reserved quota and ends the charging session.
