Time Zone Management

When you change a subscription or group time zone using the SubMan APIs, the change impacts wallet periodic balances, billing cycles, and purchased item cycle.

Periodic Balances

When you change the time zone, the periodic balance end times for the current period and all future periods are modified to the new time zone. The date and time values stay the same and only the time zone changes.

For example, if the period end time is 2022–02–10T00:00:00.000000–08:00 in the California (PST) time zone and the time zone is modified to the New York (EST) time zone, the new end time is 2022–02–10T00:00:00.000000–05:00 (EST).

There are two exceptions:
  • When the balance period is yearly, monthly, weekly, or daily, if the time at which the time zone is modified would result in the current balance period end time being set to a time in the past, then the current balance period end time is not modified. All future balance period end times are modified. When this happens, the next balance period is shorter than the standard period length and is subject to proration.

When the balance period is hourly, the current and future balance period end times are adjusted to be the same time in the new time zone. For example, if the current balance period end time is 2022–02–10T22:00:00.000000–08:00 in the California time zone (PST) and the time zone is adjusted to the New York time zone (EST), the new end time is 2022–02–1T01:00:00.000000–05:00. The time and possibly the date change with the new time zone.

Wallet Billing Cycles

When you change the time zone, the wallet billing cycle current-period end time and the next billing cycle current-period end time change to the new time zone. The date and time values stay the same and only the time zone changes.

Purchased Item Cycles

When you change the time zone, the purchased item cycle end time changes to the new time zone. The date and time values stay the same and only the time zone changes.

There are two exceptions:
  • When the purchased item cycle is yearly, monthly, weekly, or daily, if the time at which the time zone is modified would result in the current purchased item cycle period end time being set to a time in the past, then the current purchased item cycle period end time is not modified. All future purchased item cycle period end times are modified. When this happens, the next purchased item cycle period is shorter than the standard period length and is subject to proration.

When the purchased item cycle is hourly, the current and future purchased item cycle period end times are adjusted to be the same time in the new time zone. For example, if the current purchased item cycle period end time is 2022–02–10T22:00:00.000000–08:00 in the California time zone (PST) and the timezone is adjusted to the New York time zone (EST), the new end time is 2022–02–11T01:00:00.000000–05:00. The time and possibly the date change with the new time zone.
