Create a Tax Selection Profile

Create a tax selection profile to contain the list of the tax classes to apply.

Before you begin

If not already created, create the tax classes for the tax (or set of taxes) that this tax selection profile is to contain.

About this task

When you first create a tax selection profile, you essentially create the first revision (revision 0) of it. You do not need to create another revision before you start working on it. The first revision can be used in pricing (can be deployed to the pricing database).

Procedure

  1. In Tax Selectors, click the Tax Selection Profiles tab, and click New Tax Selection Profile.
  2. In Create New Tax Selection Profile:
    1. In Name, enter a unique name.
    2. (Optional) In Description, enter descriptive information about the item.
    3. (Optional) In External ID, enter any alphanumeric character to serve as a unique ID on this pricing object. The external ID can be used for any reason that is meaningful to your implementation of MATRIXX Engine. External IDs are saved to the pricing configuration file and loaded into the Pricing database.
    4. Click Create.
  3. In Start Date/Time, use the date picker to select the date on which the object becomes active in the Pricing database and is first available for use, or enter the date in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Optionally, enter a time for when the object becomes active. The default start date/time is 2000–01–01 00:00:00. If applicable, the range in which the start date/time must fall is listed. For example:
    • Select a date on or before 2021–12–01.
    • Select a date on or after 2020–01–27.
    • Select a date between 2000–01–02 and 2021–10–04.
Note: If you are creating a new revision of this object, the start date/time must be after the start date/time of the preceding revision and before the start date/time of the next revision. If you are making a copy of this object, the start date/time is not copied. The new object is the first revision, so it has the default start date/time of 2000–01–01 00:00:00.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Tax Classes pane, for the tax that this tax selection profile is to contain, do the following:
    1. Click Add Tax Class.
    2. From the predefined list of tax classes, select one or more tax classes that apply to the tax.
    3. Click Add.
To delete a tax class from the profile, click Delete the selected object for that tax class.
  6. Click Save.

What to do next

Tax selection profiles are revisioned pricing items. After you create the first revision, you can make corrections to it or make revisions of it. To create a new revision, click New Revision. You typically create a new revision when you want the changes to take effect on or after a certain date. Any changes (corrections) you make to the current revision take effect as soon as the pricing plan that contains the revision is deployed to the pricing database. For more information, see the discussion about pricing corrections and revisions.
