Monitoring Components
The following information describes monitoring different components for MATRIXX.
Monitoring MATRIXX Route Cache
Monitor the Route Cache by reading watermark log messages for each Route Cache table and Route Cache SNMP statistics. The SNMP statistics are defined in the matrixx_rc_mib.txt MIB file and returned by the print_snmp_stats.py script. They include statistics on subscriber and session data, statistics on insert, fetch, erase, and iterator operations, general statistics on subscriber records, and garbage collection.

  - Monitoring MATRIXX Business API Gateway
    Business API Gateway SNMP statistics are defined in the matrixx_web_mib.txt file and you display them using the snmp-net-utils snmpwalk command.

    Monitor the Route Cache by reading watermark log messages for each Route Cache table and Route Cache SNMP statistics.     - Route Cache Watermark Log Messages
      Route Cache watermark log messages inform system administrators about the usage level of each Route Cache table, such as the table that contains cached subscriber ID data and the table that contains cached session ID data. The number of free or available route records in each Route Cache table is tracked. If watermark messages are logged frequently, or communicate a critical state, it may be an indication that the size of the table must be increased to accommodate more route records, such as more cached subscriber identity data or more cached session ID data. Route Cache watermark log messages are logged in the mtx_debug.log file.

      Route Cache statistics are collected for subscriber and session data, including statistics on insert, fetch, erase, and iterator operations, and general statistics on subscriber records, and garbage collection.
    - Reported Route Cache Statistics
      The following Route Cache (RC) statistics are reported by the print_snmp_stats.py script.

Display Route Cache Statistics

Route Cache statistics are collected for subscriber and session data, including statistics on insert, fetch, erase, and iterator operations, and general statistics on subscriber records, and garbage collection.

Perform these steps on a Route Cache server.

Procedure

Enter the following command.

print_snmp_stats.py

Route Cache statistics are displayed. For more information about what is reported, see the discussion about reported Route Cache statistics.

Note: If the Network Enabler or Traffic Routing Agent are installed on the Route Cache Controller server, you also see statistics for these services.
