Implementing Event Streaming
Use these steps as a summary of tasks required for event streaming in a MATRIXX environment.
Event Streaming Framework Properties and Examples
Configure the Event Streaming Framework by using the mtx_event_streamer.yaml file. These properties require that a stream processing framework (such as Kafka) is already configured to accept events from the Event Streaming Framework. The mtx_event_streamer.yaml file also includes examples to use as templates for your own event streaming implementation.

- About MATRIXX Event Streaming
  MATRIXX Event Streaming describes the tasks required to create custom event streams for events received by your MATRIXX environment. An event stream is sent to the Event Streaming Framework from the Event Stream Server running on MATRIXX Engine. The Event Stream Server provides the APIs, libraries, and other files needed to create custom event streams. The Event Streaming Framework provides connectors for sending event stream data to event stream platforms, such as Kafka and ActiveMQ.

Event Streaming Framework

You can configure the following environment variables for containers created from the event-streamer image.

Environment Variables Specific to the Event Streaming Framework describes the environment variables that configure the Event Streaming Framework:

Table 1. Environment Variables Specific to the Event Streaming Framework
Environment Variable	Description
MTX_RSGW_HOST	The host name of RS Gateway. The default value is `rsgateway`.
MTX_RSGW_PORT	The port number of RS Gateway. The default value is 8080.
MTX_STRM_LOG_LEVEL	The default level of logging for application-specific loggers. The default value is `info`.

Values for the properties described in Properties Specific to Event Streaming Framework are derived from the previous environment variables and need not be set explicitly in your configuration.

By default, the Event Streaming Framework is started with the following application argument:

-props:/opt/mtx/conf/mtx_event_streamer.yaml

Note: The Java process in this container does not start until RS Gateway has started. Set the duration to wait before timeout using the $MTX_WAIT_FOR_TIMEOUT environment variable or the --wait-for-timeout (or -wt) command line argument.
