Route Cache Checkpoint Settings

Route Cache checkpoints (snapshots of the Route Cache in-memory routing table) are stored on local disk on the TRA-RT-(SI/DR) server. Upon restart of the Traffic Routing Agent server, the Route Cache Controller (RCC) service primes the Route Cache from the most recent Route Cache checkpoint. Route Cache checkpoints are created every sixty minutes and the last two checkpoints are retained. Every checkpoint is created in its own sub-directory.

Route Cache Checkpoint Configuration

Out-of-the-box, Route Cache checkpoints are enabled and are created in the /var/tra/rcc_data directory. This directory must have the appropriate read/write permissions. You can change the checkpoint directory location in the RCC properties file. For more information, see the discussion about how to configure the RCC.
Note: Instead of logging messages to the mtx-debug.log file, the RCC checkpoint handler process logs messages to a separate mtx_rcckp.log file.

You can optionally configure an age limit for Route Cache checkpoints that the RCC uses as part of validating a checkpoint. If set, the RCC uses the age limit to decide whether a checkpoint is too old and should be discarded or whether it can be used to populate the Route Cache.

For more information about Route Cache administration, see the discussion about administering the Route Cache in MATRIXX Administration.
