Upgrading the TRA-RT-(SI/DR) HA Pair

Follow this procedure to install the Traffic Routing Agent (TRA) software for TRA servers configured as a TRA-RT-(SI/DR) disaster-recovery and sub-domain routing agent HA Pair. If your MATRIXX implementation uses the MATRIXX Network Enabler, use the instructions in the discussion about upgrading the Network Enabler in related links instead of this upgrade task.

Before upgrading the TRA-RT-(SI/DR) software, note these prerequisites:

  • If you have not already done so, set up SSH password-less login between TRA servers. For details, see the discussion about creating an SSH key for the tra user in Installation and Configuration.
  • The required hardware and operating system must be installed on each TRA server. For the list of software required, see this discussion about system requirements in Installation and Configuration. For operating system installation instructions, see your hardware vendor documentation for details.
  • The required open source software must be installed in accordance with third-party specifications. For details see the discussion about third-party software requirements in Installation and Configuration.
  • You must have created the matrixxsw user on each TRA server. For details, see the discussion about creating MATRIXX users in Installation and Configuration. You do not need to create the mtx user on the TRA servers.
  • The administrator performing the installation must have sudo su permissions and ssh access to all Traffic Routing Agent servers in the environment. For details see the discussion about creating MATRIXX users in Installation and Configuration.
  • For the local hosts, and for each IP/VIP you will be generating in /opt/tra/conf/tra_config_network_topology.xml and /opt/tra/conf/tra_confg.xml, add the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in the /etc/hosts file on the TRA servers, or configure it in your DNS server.
