MATRIXX SNMP Notifications
MATRIXX uses trap-directed notifications to alert your SNMPv2 or SNMPv3 Network Operations Center (NOC) when a change occurs in a service status, an error occurs, a threshold has been crossed, or the system topology changes. It does this by sending a trap of the event.
Using MATRIXX SNMP notifications requires following the instructions in the discussion about configuring an SNMP NOC in MATRIXX Configuration.
The traps are sent to your NOC if they are triggered during the system monitoring interval. They are also written to the system log. After your NOC receives and displays the event, it can choose to take an action based on the event, for example, poll the MATRIXX SNMP Agent or specific devices directly to get a better understanding of the issue.
SNMP notifications are defined in the MATRIXX MIB files. For more information about MATRIXX MIB files, see the discussion about MATRIXX MIB files in MATRIXX Monitoring and Logging.
See the discussion about all MATRIXX SNMP statistics for a complete list of these statistics.
