- About Pricing and Rating
  Pricing and Rating provides an introduction to MATRIXX pricing and rating functionality and describes how to define the catalog components necessary for rating and policy selection. It also provides an overview of the MATRIXX rating process and an introduction to My MATRIXX, a Web-based user interface application you use to create and manage product catalogs.
- Rating Overview
  MATRIXX Charging Application can perform both online and offline rating in support of next-generation networks and legacy systems. It can also handle hybrid sets of convergent, prepaid, and postpaid services, enabling service providers to have a diverse subscriber base.

  The MATRIXX pricing model is highly flexible and enables you to create innovative service offerings and tailor pricing to subscriber needs. It is compatible with the Telemanagement Forum Shared Information/Data (SID) model.
- Deploying a Pricing Plan
  Deploying a pricing plan involves compiling the pricing plan into a configuration file and loading the configuration file into the pricing database. During compilation, the pricing schema is validated and any errors that occur are displayed.
  - Compiling Pricing Plans
    When you compile a pricing plan, a pricing XML configuration file is generated from all pricing items and policy items in the pricing domain. The pricing XML configuration file can be generated as a standalone file during pricing validation or as part of a ZIP archive that contains the following additional files:
  - Validate a Pricing Plan from the Command Line
    Use the convert_price_plan.jar utility to validate the schema of a compiled pricing XML configuration file.
  - Compile a Pricing Plan from the Command Line
    Perform this task to compile a pricing plan from the command line so you can deploy the pricing plan to the pricing database. The compiler validates the pricing schema during compilation time and returns any errors that occur.
  - Load a Compiled Pricing File
    The load_pricing.py script loads a compiled pricing XML configuration file into the pricing database on a processing blade and then, if successful, loads it synchronously onto all other blades in the engine. The pricing XML file can be loaded directly or as part of a pricing ZIP file.
  - Display Differences Between Two Pricing ZIP Archives
    Use the diff_pricing.py script to display the differences between two specified pricing ZIP archives.
  - Reverting to a Previous Pricing Plan
    You can revert the pricing database to the previously-loaded pricing plan without interrupting transaction processing. The revert process ensures that all transactions currently in progress are rated by using the pricing plan that was available when the event was first received. All events received after a pricing plan is reverted are rated with the previous pricing.
  - Troubleshoot a Failed Pricing Load Operation
    There are a few reasons why a pricing load operation might fail. This task lists the steps to take to fix each problem so the deployment operation can succeed.

Deploying a Pricing Plan

Deploying a pricing plan involves compiling the pricing plan into a configuration file and loading the configuration file into the pricing database. During compilation, the pricing schema is validated and any errors that occur are displayed.

Compiling and loading a pricing plan can be done either through My MATRIXX or the command line. If done through My MATRIXX, you must set up your engine connections before the pricing compilations can be loaded.
